Oil price shoots up as stocks tread water

Oil prices barrelled ahead again Thursday, extending their volatile run, while global stock markets were stuck as investors assessed corporate earnings, with tech firms back under pressure.Shares in the German industrial giant Siemens fell five percent in Frankfurt, but pulled more than half of that back, after its profit forecasts fell short of investors' hopes.
